Assessments: IEE (FBA)

The parents of students with an IEP have a legal right to request for an Independent Educational Evaluation (IEE), if you disagree with any assessment results conducted by the school district IEP team. As part of Independent Educational Evaluation (IEE), Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA) can be conducted. It is designed to identify the underlying factors influencing behavior by examining the individual within their natural learning environment. Assessment includes direct observation across settings, systematic collection of ABC (Antecedent-Behavior-Consequence) data and the use of indirect assessment tools, such as caregiver interviews, to gain a comprehensive understanding of behavioral patterns.
